Hospital employee alive today, thanks to blood donors

Daniel, a hospital employee certainly knows the importance of giving blood. In 1978, he was involved in a motorcycle accident that almost took his life. His aorta artery was severed, his bicep was literally ripped off and his sternum and several ribs were crushed. During a 3.5 hour surgery, he was transfused with one unit of blood every six minutes.

Daniel made a remarkable recovery and is healthy today. So healthy in fact, that he donates blood at his hospital’s blood drive…giving back the gift of life that saved his 25 years ago.
