Our national headquarters is Blood Systems, located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Blood Systems is a well-respected leader in blood banking. It is a founding member of the AABB and was a driving force in the creation of the America's Blood Centers. Both organizations play a major role in communicating advances in transfusion medicine nationwide.

Blood Systems has two national Donor Testing Service (DTS) laboratories, one in the Phoenix area and the other near Dallas. Both are Food and Drug Administration (FDA) licensed facilities and hold current certifications for the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) as well as accreditation with the AABB and the New York State Department of Health. The DTS laboratory in Tempe, AZ also holds accreditation with the State of California. Our Tempe location provides additional services, including such immunohematology services as resolution of complex patient workups, platelet antibody screens and crossmatches and rare blood acquisition for patients with special needs. Our histocompatibility laboratory conducts high resolution DNA typing of both class I and class II HLA alleles to support bone marrow or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, Anti-HLA antibody screening, anti-HLA antibody specificity, lymphocytotoxic crossmatches and DNA parentage testing.

For more than 20 years, Blood Systems has supported research in several laboratories around the country through the Blood Systems Foundation. Blood Systems Foundation is dedicated to promoting excellence in transfusion medicine and related activities by supporting and enhancing research, program development, training and education.
